Bugenimana Devotha Bio

Greetings, I’m Bugenimana Devotha, and I bring over a decade of experience as a nurse to my role. Through my time in nursing, I gained firsthand insight into the intricate relationship between human health, environmental well-being, and animal welfare.

This experience ignited a passion within me, leading me to pursue studies in Public Health with the goal of integrating the principles of One Health and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Today, as a One Health Officer at BIOCOOR, I am committed to leveraging my extensive experience to build a nation that is environmentally, socially, and economically resilient. My role focuses on fostering harmony between human health, environmental sustainability, and animal welfare, aiming to create a healthier, more prosperous future for our communities and our planet. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such meaningful work and look forward to continuing our journey towards a sustainable and thriving future together.

In addition to my teaching career, I’ve also transitioned into operational management, specifically focusing on the operational aspects of Nyungwe EcoVillage, an entity under BIOCOOR. Nyungwe EcoVillage represents an important initiative aimed at sustainable development within the Nyungwe National Park vicinity, and I am proud to play a role in its operations. Prior to my current role, I served as a Section Manager at Mituelle de Santé (health insurance) in Nyaruguru district for three years. In this capacity, I oversaw operations and ensured the effective delivery of healthcare services to members of the community. It was a rewarding experience, contributing to improving access to quality healthcare for individuals and families in need.

Throughout my professional journey, my focus has always been guided by a passion for service and a commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others. I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to serve in various capacities, and I look forward to continuing to contribute to meaningful initiatives, particularly those aimed at biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
